Innovative NFT Animator Superplastic Raise $20M From Tech Giants like Amazon, Google

    Recently, innovative NFT studio Superplastic successfully raised (1) $20 million in Series A funding. The funding came from some of the most well-known names in the technology industry, including Amazon, Google, Sony Japan, and Animoca Brands.

    Superplastic is responsible for inventing and developing “synthetic” versions of famous people’s personas. These fabricated superstars can be found on well-known social media like Instagram and TikTok, which hold a significant impact thanks to their millions of dedicated fans.

    Superplastic’s “synthetic” characters will work with Amazon Studios to create an animated comedy series. Amazon’s Alexa Fund led the strategic investment into Superplastic. This relationship will also open up new avenues for communicating with younger audiences.

    The synthetic characters created by Superplastic can be found in a wide variety of media, such as animated media, apparel, and live experiences. The two characters who have proven to be the most successful for Superplastic to create are going to take center stage in this new series: Janky and Guggimon.

    Alongside Amazon, some of the industry’s most prominent companies, such as Craft Ventures, Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, Kering, Sony Japan, Scribble Ventures, Kakao, Animoca Brands, Day One Ventures, and Betaworks, were among those that contributed to the fundraising round. To this point, Superplastic has successfully raised a total of $58 million.

    In a recent interview, Paul Budnitz, founder and CEO of Superplastic, discussed how the company’s investors would benefit from this collaboration by expanding their reach in media, commerce, logistics, and technology. He added:

    “Amazon can be found everywhere. And as an intellectual property company, it fascinates me to think about what we could do with Whole Foods.

    The valuation at which Superplastic has raised the most recent capital has yet to be published by the company. In addition to Amazon, several of Superplastic’s strategic supporters will collaborate with the company to develop other character-based goods. They will be a part of the Superplastic character universe that spans several platforms, including social networks and video games.

    The CEO of Superplastic stated that the transaction positioned the company to follow in the footsteps of Disney throughout this generation. It will center on well-known characters and create an entire universe of adventures around those characters.

    Budnitz continued by saying that Superplastic employs many imaginative people responsible for developing concepts and characters, such as Janky and Guggimon.

    Users will be able to piece together videos and other experiences with the help of Superplastic, which will operate as a technology platform constructed from the ground up. At this stage, the characters will engage in conversation with world-famous businesses and other influential figures from around the globe.
